Quote of the Day 20080114

“It is not the strongest of the species that survive, nor the most intelligent, but the one most responsive to change.” — Charles Darwin 1809 – 1882, scientist

What does it mean to respond to change? First of all, you have to be aware of change…you’ve got to notice it. I think it goes a little bit deeper than just being responsive because once you notice a change happening even deciding not to act, or to ignore the change is a response. That response may not be the most highly adaptive response, the response that ensures the continued survival of you and/or your progeny. So, the idea is to notice the change and really decide what the most effective or profitable response would be and then act accordingly.
